This collective video work shows the creation of 25 international leading contemporary visual artists who created a one minute video to deal with the HIV/AIDS epidemic that is currently ravaging Africa. Every artist only uses non documentary techniques to convey the message of the 46664 movement through universal artistic language. I hope that the metaphors used by artists can overcome cultural and religious barriers, touch the hearts of people around the world, and attract ideas from all over the world. 46664 is the prison number of Nelson Mandela on Robben Island in Cape Town, where he was imprisoned for 18 years. In 1964, he was the 466th prisoner imprisoned on the island. In November 2002, Mr. Mandela gave his prison number 46664 to David A. Stewart of rhythmic gymnastics, so that he could use this number to raise funds for Nelson Mandela Foundation to help South Africa fight HIV/AIDS. The work compiled from this video was first held on November 29, 2003 at the Green Dot Stadium in Cape Town, South Africa. The one minute video also appeared on the Nelson Mandela Foundation's "46664 Concert" double DVD (2004).
