Matthew Byrne's' Autobots' is a dance piece by British choreographer Matthew Byrne. The music of this work is based on the Moscow Grand Theatre ballet version of Georges Bizet's opera "Carmen" (1875) by Russian composer Rodion Shchedrin, and was composed by composer Terry Davies. However, this story is completely different from the plot of an opera. On the contrary, it is roughly based on James M. Cain's novel "The Postman Always Rings Twice" (1934) and the films of the same name from 1946 and 1981. This ballet is renowned for its candid depictions of violence and sexuality, including homosexuality.
